Default 100K+XX Ectos? WTF!

Kaineng center!!!
its crazy!!! ppl selling anything for 100k+XX ectos!!
its always like this: [WTS] ... 100k+XX ectos (no noobs, serious offers only!)
and when u take a closer look the ... thing is piece of crap!
i think ppl see someone selling a 15^50 req 8 for 100k+ectos and say "well mine is 14^50 req 12, if he selling for 100k+xx ectos i can sell for 100k+ (xx-5) ectos. fair enough! "

and the no-noobs thing, is it new fashion? some guys even using that for selling things like materials or very common green items...

(sorry for bad english )

Mmm. Can't wait for the auction house, the value of most things will drop as it'll be easier to sell... depending on how it's set up.

It's hard for your average ZOMG I FOUND A GOLD player to know how much things are worth, hell, it's hard for me to know how much things are worth half the time, and I feel I've got my "ear to the ground" with the whole economy thing.

Like, girlfriend found a +5 Energy Plagueborn Hammer, max req8... and it's like, well... it's max, second best req you can expect... but, who wants energy on a hammer... maybe... someone? hehe...

I dunno. Just saying it's hard to know the value of stuff...

"No noob offers" usually equals "I want to get rich NOW. If you offer the fair market value for my piece of turd item, I shall retaliate by calling you a noob."

I haven't bothered doing any kind of offers to them in a good while.

Why do you think everyone who wants an item for actual use just buys the perfect stat item of desired skin with high req? Cheaper with exact same functionality. Let people pay 100k+ecto because it only makes me richer. >.>

There are so many req. 8 15>50 Zodiac weapons out there yet people spend ALL day in Kaineng waiting for that 100k + XX ecto sale. I find "100k + XX ectos" quite rude because this person is just expecting you to offer a mass of your time and effort for one item. When you ask for an approximation the usual responseis "OFFER ME" or "OFFERT ME" from the more retarded traders.

The above post is correct. The 'No noobs' part is a way of intimidating the buyers so they won't dare suggest a low price otherwise they'll be faced with the 'noob' treatment.

In fact, asking for offers is probably the slowest method of trading (unless you're dealing with Crystalline/Dwarven weaps). You should set your boundaries and say something like 100k + 10 ectos and negotiate at around 10% of that price. Spamming WTS with no success doesn't get you richer but getting the trade over with and continuing your farming does.

There have been days when I've logged on at lunch time, went out for the day and returned at night to see the same name trying to sell that '15>50 super-duper low req. sundering bad-ass fugly axe of fortitude' as I did earlier. I've bought 7 FoW armours in my GW history and only sold one item over 50k.

Poetry.

Well, the GW economy is run by thirteen-year-olds, so I have given up hope on getting rid of the stuff that is clogging up my inventory until some kind of auction/trade house is implemented. Sure, with it, the prices will plummet but I will finally be able to let go of my crappy golds and rest assured that they will not be the means by some full-time power-trader making 100K+XX ectos off my market-ignorant ass.

Yes. They forget that an item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it - standard economics concept. The high-price strategy doesn't work well in Guild Wars as tempting as it is to implement it.

Funny thing is collectors weapons and greens are always perfect yet people shell out 100K + ectos for weapons.

O wait, that's because of the SKINS.

Yes, it is. It's not funny at all; it makes perfect sense, given that new rare-skinned weapons are the only thing to spend money on (save armor).

In my experience people who post things like that are the ones posting in the local channel. If you trade exclusively in the trade channel, you see a lot less of this phenomenon.

Locan channel is used for trading by (Korean?) farmers just chat spamming things are dumb prices, and its safest to simply ignore it completely.

Even if you get a "perfect" rare, don't expect to get a lot from it, or even a little. People usually only buy perfects for the skin, as mentioned before, so trying to sell your "perfect" Tyran skinned Cleaver for 100k just will not work at all. Unfortunately, not many people know this O,o.

Supply and demand... not much else.

Hmm, well I still have my mini Prine Rurick with his mini FDS. I have been thinking of selling it for some absurd price, but remember I don't really need money >.> I just like having a lot of money <.<

Here's what you do to the "no n00b offers" guys:

Whisper them, asking them what they consider the highest possible n00b offer could be. If they give you a number, offer that number + 1 gold. If they don't give you a number, offer them 1 gold. When they call you a n00b, ask why they didn't give you a max n00b offer. If they still won't give a number, increase your bid to 2 gold and keep going until they start ignoring you.

i saw the same person in LA trying to sell a +15%^50 20/20 +30 req 8 jade longbow at 100k + 20 ectos for days
i only noticed because i had been selling a few things myself, including a similar bow (different mods), which i got either 15- or 20k for
a couple days later i was back selling some more things, and i saw them spamming the exact same line again
i whispered them to let them know it wasn't worth nearly as much and they were mean to me
